The Tuck School of Business was ranked the top business school in the country by The Wall Street Journal/Harris Interactive Business School survey, released Monday. Tuck earned its fourth first-place finish in the seven years that the ranking has been published, returning to the number one spot after slipping to second place last year. The rankings are based on a survey of 4,430 corporate recruiters who compared business schools on 21 different attributes. The University of California at Berkeley's Haas School and Columbia Business School rounded out the top three MBA programs.

The Summer term hosts an onslaught of non-Dartmouth students who live in the College's residential halls during their time in Hanover. Those who participate in summer camps and other residential programs on campus, however, are not eligible for some of the services Safety and Security provides for Dartmouth students, including campus transportation in the absence of an emergency and use of the Good Samaritan policy.

An incident of sexual assault and another of indecent exposure and lewdness were reported to Hanover Police last week. According to Police Chief Nicholas Giaccone, the incidents appear unrelated.

With members of the Class of 2007 wondering what their futures may hold after Sunday's Commencement ceremonies and their farewell to the College, they can find comfort in the tradition of success many of the College's alumni have had in a wide range of fields. Whether graduates have stayed close to the College or fled to the West coast, their experiences at Dartmouth have stayed with them and served them well.

College President James Wright was featured as "Person of The Week" Friday evening on ABC's "World News with Charles Gibson." In the three-and-a-half-minute segment highlighting his work with United States Marines, Wright said, "I often tell my students here that they're all privileged to be here and with privilege goes responsibility. We have a responsibility to reach out and to help out." Wright was recognized for helping to implement a college-guidance program for Marines. "I realized that they had questions that it was not clear where they could get answers," he said. Wright raised $350,000 with help from the American Council of Education to hire college counselors at three of the largest military hospitals in the country. Three Purple Heart-winning Marines are expected to matriculate with the Class of 2011 in the fall. "They will all learn a lot here, these Marines coming, but we will all learn a lot from them," Wright said.

Chin, who had the opportunity to sit in with students in classes, at Sexual Assault Peer Advisor training and at informal dinner and lunch discussions, said she wished to push students to take the curricular dialogue around race, class and gender issues and the respect they afford their peers within a classroom into their social and extracurricular spectra.

Sasha Bright '09 keeps her head bowed, eyes on her shoes as she hands off her Dartmouth ID card. She avoids the DDS cashier's eyes, which shift from the card to Bright and back again. Bright's long, straight hair does not match the cropped cut in the photo. The T-shirt fitted over her feminine torso is a far cry from the baggy shirt featured on the card. The student standing in the dining hall, whose apparent anxiety masks her courage, does not match the masculine name printed to the right of the photograph.

Four alumnae, who collectively experienced 30 years of Dartmouth coeducation, recounted anecdotes about their experiences as undergraduates at a discussion titled "Lest the Old Traditions Fail: 30 Years of Dartmouth Women," hosted by the 1972 Society Monday evening. The panelists concluded that Dartmouth has become more hospitable to female students, although certain gender disparities apparent at the onset of coeducation have not faded.

On his first visit to campus, Itamar Kubovy, executive director for Pilobolus Dance Theater, acknowledged the unique Dartmouth character that is integral to the group's dynamic.Kubovy spoke of the "intellectual atmosphere" of the Pilobolus office, the conversations and debates that occur regularly, the group's appreciation for snow and their shared love of the outdoors and creative freedom.

The sorority-sponsored events of this year's Winter Carnival are a far cry from certain antiquated Carnival traditions, which in many ways embraced women themselves as the festivities. Decades ago, when Dartmouth was all male and even more isolated than it is today, the annual pilgrimage of thousands of high school and college girls to Hanover each winter caused quite the stir.
