More than 75% of Dartmouth undergraduates are involved in sports — whether that be varsity, club and intramural teams or physical education programs. It is no surprise, then, that athletic activities are a popular pastime on the Green, especially during Sophomore Summer, when the grass is lush and spirits high.

Felix Rawlinson ’23, a recently graduated member of the men’s heavyweight rowing team, was named a second team Empacher-IRCA All-American for rowing on June 20. In 2023, the British rower was one of five members of the Big Green men’s heavyweight rowing team who competed at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, competing for Great Britain. Having graduated earlier this month, Rawlinson will next study genomic medicine at Oxford University. The Dartmouth sat down with Rawlinson to discuss his rowing career, proudest achievements and future plans.

On May 18, the College honored late Big Green head football coach Eugene F. “Buddy” Teevens III — the winningest coach in program history — in a celebration of life ceremony at Memorial Field.

On May 18 and 19, the women’s rowing team completed the final races of the season at the annual Ivy League Championship in Pennsauken, N.J. Dartmouth women’s rowing sent six boats to the Championship — three fours and three eights — with the first eight boat qualifying for the grand final and placing sixth overall.

After capturing the Ivy League title on April 21, women’s golf capped off their historic run at the NCAA golf regionals. The Big Green finished 11th out of 12 teams — outperforming their 12-seed ranking — at the Las Vegas tournament from May 6 to 8.

With 19 first-place finishes, the men’s and women’s track and field teams showcased their capabilities at the George Davis Invitational, held at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell on April 19 and 20. This weekend, the teams competed in the 2024 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships in Princeton, where the women’s team placed seventh and the men’s team placed fifth.

On April 20, the women’s rowing team finished their regular season on a high note on senior day, defeating regional opponents Rhode Island University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst in all 10 races at Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vt.

Ten members of the Dartmouth triathlon team competed at the 2024 USA Triathlon Collegiate Club national championship in Mission Viejo, California on April 13 and 14. According to the Dartmouth physical education and recreation website, the race marked the team’s first time at the national championship in its 10-year history.
