Ah, studying abroad. A classic Dartmouth experience, the College has been consistently ranked in the top 10 for the number of students we send around the world each year. And junior fall seems to be a very popular time to do it. Having never taken a real term away from Dartmouth (aside from freshman summer which doesn’t count), I was excited to escape from the on-campus post-sophomore-summer slump and spend this fall on the LSA in Barcelona, Spain.

For the members of Ladies' Night, it's the practices, not the performances, that they enjoy the most.

A study performed by Boston College's Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment showed that female students studying at Boston College lost self-confidence between their freshman and senior years, USA Today reported on Thursday. The study was based on student surveys, in which most female students gave themselves weaker self-evaluations while taking the survey in their final year. Abbey Clark, founder of the Boston College's female empowerment community I AM THAT GIRL, said the results startled her and hopes to change the trend by creating a strong community to increase women's empowerment.

Over the weekend, Dartmouth J Street U members joined hundreds of college students and thousands of activists from across the country at a three-day National J Street Conference in Washington, D.C. Eleven Dartmouth students attended, with 10 beginning their trip in Hanover and another joining the group from an off-term in Washington, D.C. The students return to campus on Monday night.

Starting Tuesday, New Hampshire residents and small businesses will be able to compare and purchase state-approved health insurance plans through a federally operated health insurance exchange website. Those who buy plans through the exchange qualify for federal subsidies depending on their income and will have coverage beginning on Jan. 1. The enrollment period represents the first step toward the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act, which requires most Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty.

Friday's performance by the Knights, a chamber orchestra that arrives on campus today, is not only dependent on its musicians to be focused and ready, but is also relying on a diplomatic miracle of sorts for everything to go smoothly.

What is the meaning of life? Is it to seek a higher purpose than ourselves? Is it simply to exist? Is it to make the most of our short time on Earth? Is it 42? Who knows for sure; I certainly am not in a position to give a definitive answer to that question. Ron Howard's new film, "Rush," seeks not to answer this ultimate question, but to give an example of what it meant personally to Formula One racers and rivals Niki Lauda and James Hunt.

Austin and I were brainstorming about what sport to take on our first week, and we decided that it had to be a men's team. There is a certain amount of small talk that is required in our profession and we could not deal with five more seconds of talking about women's rush. The only part of that process that we understand is that it is similar to the Sorting Hat in "Harry Potter" and that somehow it involves a 17-hour psychoanalysis of a four-minute conversation. We don't apologize (as Legends never should), but that would have been awful. Also, with much of the senior class (and those try-hard juniors and that one sophomore we saw) getting prepped for corporate recruiting at the job fair, we joined in and decided to play squash. We got in touch with the men's team co-captains, Fletcher Pease '14 and Chris Jung '14, and set up a time to play.

This week, I sat down with Cody Fulleton '16, a defensive tackle from Seattle. Fulleton trained at Athletes Performance in Carlsbad, Calif., a facility geared toward college and professional football players. The sophomore had an impact as part of the defensive line rotation last season and looks to continue that trend as he assumes a larger role on the team.

The team played a much closer game last week when it split games against ninth-ranked University of Minnesota in the Dartmouth Duels, leaving hope that the performance against Harvard (6-4, 1-0 Ivy) would not bode poorly for the rest of the season.
