Daily Debriefing
The Hanover Fire Department responded to a notification of a fire at the Roth Center at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday, according to firefighter Bob Mousley. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that there was no fire in the building but discovered a problem with one of the sprinklers in the building's basement, which had set off the automatic dispatch system, Mousley said. There was minor water damage around the area where the sprinkler was activated, according to Mousley.
New smartphone reads callers' neural signals
Dartmouth computer science professor Andrew Campbell was jogging on a frigid day two winters ago when he realized that he needed to call his wife. As he struggled to remove his gloves to operate his cellphone, he asked himself a question that would later fuel his research "Why can't a thought just drive a phone?"

Global health experts from around the world gathered Monday for the First Annual Dartmouth Global Ethics Conference at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center to present on issues ranging from global hunger to medical professionals' moral and political responsibilities. Hear and Now: Pandora
Last year I experienced a minor addiction to Pandora Internet Radio. I would create stations upon stations of my favorite artists, discover new artists on those stations and create new stations based on those artists in an endless chain reaction. I began to feel a minor depression thinking about all the music I would never discover. In my music-addled brain, the only cure was to listen to more Pandora. I had opened the box, and there was no putting the sonic demons of chill tunes back. By the end of 11S, I was worn out on Pandora. I spent my summer listening to whatever happened to come my way and was grateful for the music I already had in my life. Spotify came along, and I listened to what I pleased and at appropriate increments.
Hood exhibit explores Native American identity
"Inviting these artists to campus was a very forward-looking gesture," Miller said. "It was Darmouth's way of showing commitment and care for integrating [Native Americans] back into the community."

Coming off its first tournament win since 2009, the Dartmouth men's golf team continued its impressive season by winning The Classic at Shelter Harbor in Westerly, R.I., on Sunday. The tournament, which included every Ivy League team except Harvard University, was Dartmouth's final event of the fall season.
Rugby trounces weekend opponents

Wiegand: Not Just a Titillating Experience
Lingerie is an event that occurs at Tabard the Wednesday night before the big weekend of every term. On the surface, Lingerie might seem like some kind of drag show/striptease hybrid, in which Tabardites and other members of the Dartmouth community get up on stage and perform "acts," frequently involving nudity and/or expressions of sexuality. Yet however much Lingerie may resemble a strip club, that is not its primary purpose.
