Daily Debriefing

The Hanover Fire Department responded to a notification of a fire at the Roth Center at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday, according to firefighter Bob Mousley. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that there was no fire in the building but discovered a problem with one of the sprinklers in the building's basement, which had set off the automatic dispatch system, Mousley said. There was minor water damage around the area where the sprinkler was activated, according to Mousley.

Yale University became the newest member of JSTOR's Alumni Access pilot last week, giving its alumni unlimited access to the academic journal's archives, a privilege previously reserved for current students and faculty, Inside Higher Ed reported. Eighteen other institutions have joined since the program launched in 2009, with each paying an additional 10 percent of their current license's price as part of a trial agreement with JSTOR, according to Inside Higher Ed. The amount of content use varies from school to school, but access to scholarly journals is popular among alumni, according to Bruce Heterick, vice president for outreach services at JSTOR. Data collected from participating institutions show that alumni continue to enjoy reading journal articles after they have left the world of academia, Inside Higher Ed reported. Ishaan Tharoor, a member of Yale's Class of 2006, described the program as "the best thing Yale has done" for him since leaving the university, according to Inside Higher Ed.
