Dartmouth started the match strongly, as the wide midfielders Tom Lobben '08 and Michael Ordonez '08 played a very active role in the 4-5-1 formation, supported by runs from Peter Savidis '07 and Matt Carroll '09. However, shots by striker Mark Limpert '07, Carroll and Ordonez all failed to find the back of the net, as they were either saved by Brown goalkeeper Jarrett Leech or flew wide of the target.

Well hello, '10s! So you've survived three days of college classes, made it home unscathed after your first dance parties (at least those of you who did not get picked up after trying to convince Safety and Security that you've matriculated and it's now all right to urinate on the Blunt Alumni Center), and come out the other side of an absurdly long (and forced) freshman orientation. My congratulations.

For the past few weeks, the ongoing vote on the proposed Alumni Constitution has been the focus of political debate on our campus. While the future of this document is certainly of key importance to the Dartmouth community, we must not allow it to divert our attention from another upcoming political event, one with much broader consequences: the midterm elections. This year's elections for seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives offer an opportunity for our desensitized nation to wake up and become aware of all the negative changes it has suffered over the past six years of Republican administration, and diverge from the calamitous path down which it is rolling.

Back to School time is not only a busy time for students, but apparently for condom companies as well. Jim Daniels, vice president of marketing at Trojan listed the back-to-school season as a good time for recruiting young customers in an article for The New York Times. Companies such as Trojan and Durex are diversifying marketing strategies in order to attract the attention of young buyers. Trojan has also increased its online and in print fall-advertising in order to reach schools that will not allow Trojan on-site for programming. On Tuesday, the company released a Sexual Health Report Card in which 100 randomly selected public and private schools were ranked on how they provided sexual health information to their students. Yale University placed first and Brigham Young Univeristy finished last while Dartmouth came in 63rd place.

Some Bissell residents reported that the fire was caused by an improperly disposed cigarette butt, but others have speculated that alcohol may have been involved in the incident or that the fire was a deliberate act.

The trailer for "The Black Dahlia" refers to its subject as "the most notorious murder in California history." It's easy to understand why. On Jan. 15 ,1947, the mutilated body of a porn star named Becky Short was discovered just outside of Los Angeles. The corpse had been cut in half, its organs removed, and the mouth slashed open from ear to ear. The ensuing investigation and media circus lasted for several months, but the identity of the killer has remained a mystery to this day. Given the story's sensational mixture of salaciousness and sadism, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood turned its wandering eye to this sordid tale, and now here we have a fictionalized version of the event courtesy of "Scarface" director Brian De Palma.

Dartmouth continued to dominate UNH for 71 years before the Wildcats clawed their way back to the top of the New Hampshire jungle with a nail-biting 10-9 victory over the Big Green in 1973.
