Rivalries in pro and college sports are conceived and born in many different ways. Some are geographic (Mets-Yankees), some are based on a long history (Harvard-Yale) and some come about because both teams happen to very good at the same time (Celtics-Lakers).

Harvard never knew what hit them. The Crimson fully expecting to have at least as easy a game as last year's 49-7 thrashing that spoiled the Big Green's Homecoming festivities, but Harvard had another thing coming.

Fresh off of a sweep of Penn on Saturday, the Dartmouth softball team continued its hard-hitting ways and swept Princeton on Sunday by scores of 8-5 and 8-0. The wins kept Dartmouth undefeated in Ivy League play and evened their overall record at 11-11.

This time last year, Dartmouth men's soccer was riding high. With victories against Princeton, Penn, Maine, and 19th-ranked Stanford, the Big Green had established themselves as a contender early on in the season. After four games, Dartmouth had already scored 10 times, while allowing only a single goal.

Well everyone, it has been four years already. Can you believe it? Who would have imagined. Four long years. Four long, incredible years since they cancelled TV's Growing Pains. Or maybe it has been thirteen long, incredible years. I'm not exactly sure. I stopped keeping track around 1986.
