Call to Lead campaign exceeds $3 billion

The Call to Lead campaign has surpassed its $3 billion target, the College announced in an article in Dartmouth News. According to the announcement, over 90,000 members of the Dartmouth community, including 56% of all Dartmouth alumni from the five schools — the undergraduate College, the Geisel School of Medicine, the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, the Thayer School of Engineering and the Tuck School of Business — contributed to the campaign.


Dartmouth’s endowment posts 46.5% year-over-year returns, prompting additional spending on students

Dartmouth’s endowment grew by an eye-popping 46.5% in the 2021 fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2021, the College announced on Monday afternoon. The endowment stands at $8.5 billion as of June 30, up from the $5.98 billion announced last year.


Tropical storm Henri makes landfall in Rhode Island, to bring high winds and heavy rain to Upper Valley

Tropical storm Henri, which was downgraded from a Category 1 hurricane earlier today, will likely bring several inches of rain and strong winds to the Upper Valley through Monday, according to projections from the National Hurricane Center. Localized flash flooding is also a possibility, given the high ground saturation from an already rainy summer. 


Northern Arizona University dean of students Scott Brown appointed interim Dean of the College

Northern Arizona University dean of students Scott Brown has been appointed as interim Dean of the College, Dartmouth announced today. His appointment, effective immediately, comes following sociology professor Kathryn Lively’s sudden resignation as Dean of the College earlier this summer, effective June 30 but announced July 19. 


External investigation finds ‘insufficient information’ for allegations against eight Dartmouth faculty and staff

In an external investigation into former computer science Ph.D. student Maha Hasan Alshawi’s allegations of retaliation and discrimination against Title IX staff, computer science professors and Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies administrators, the final report has found “insufficient information” for any of the allegations. 






External investigation clears professor of sexual harassment and retaliation allegations

An external investigation into allegations of sexual harassment made by former computer science Ph.D. student Maha Hasan Alshawi, launched by the College last August, found computer science professor Alberto Quattrini Li not responsible for any of the seven allegations against him. The office of the provost released an executive summary of the report — produced by Cozen O'Connor, the law firm retained by the College — on April 30.



Provost Joseph Helble selected as president of Lehigh University

After 16 years at the College, Provost Joseph Helble will leave Dartmouth to become president of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. College President Phil Hanlon will “soon” appoint an interim provost and set up a committee to conduct a search for the next provost “over the next few weeks,” according to the announcement in Dartmouth News.


Jennifer Qian ’22, Maggie Johnston ’22 elected Student Assembly president, vice president

Students have elected Jennifer Qian ’22 and Maggie Johnston ’22 as Student Assembly president and vice president, respectively. The Qian-Johnston campaign ran on a platform of elevating student voices, increasing access to academic, financial and emotional resources; fostering an inclusive campus culture and bringing together the Dartmouth community. 


Dartmouth offers admission to 1,749 applicants to the Class of 2025

Dartmouth has offered admission to 1,749 applicants to the Class of 2025 from the 28,357 students who applied, the admissions office reported Tuesday evening. The acceptance rate of 6.17% is the lowest in Dartmouth history. The College projects the class will comprise 1,150 students, suggesting a planned yield rate of roughly 66%.
