Safety and Security issues warning to campus following assault on graduate student

A graduate student was physically assaulted on Saturday night near the intersection of Main Street and Wheelock Street, according to a “Timely Warning” message from Safety and Security director Keysi Montás on Monday afternoon. The student sustained no physical injuries.


Preliminary Democratic primary results show incumbent state representatives win, Dartmouth student campaigns fall short

Based on preliminary vote totals from Hanover, The Dartmouth projects that the four incumbent candidates will win the Democratic primary race for state representative of Grafton District 12, defeating Dartmouth student candidates  Miles Brown ’23 and Nicolás Macri ’24. 


New Hampshire 2022 Primary: A look at the races on today’s ballots

Today, Hanover voters will go to Hanover High School to cast their primary ballots for Democratic and Republican nominees ahead of the 2022 general election in November. Voting will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and voters who are “undeclared” — not registered members of either party — may still vote on a party ballot.






Sian Leah Beilock to serve as 19th president of Dartmouth College

The presidential search is over: The Board of Trustees has elected Sian Leah Beilock, a cognitive scientist and the current president of Barnard College, as the next president of Dartmouth College, the College announced on Thursday. Following College President Phil Hanlon’s retirement in June 2023, Beilock will become the 19th president and the first woman named to this position in the College’s history.


Tuck receives $52.1 million donation for creation of global summit

The Tuck School of Business has received a $52.1 million gift from an anonymous donor, the largest donation in the school’s history, Tuck announced on Thursday. The gift will create and endow the Dartmouth Summit on Health, Wealth and Sustainability, a recurring summit that aims to “improve the health, wealth and sustainability of people and the planet in the 21st century,” according to the announcement. 



Mike Harrity to serve as new athletics director

Mike Harrity will lead Big Green athletics as the Haldeman Family director of athletics and recreation starting on July 18, the College announced on Wednesday. Harrity, who comes to Dartmouth after working as the deputy athletics director and chief operating officer for Army West Point for two years, will manage Dartmouth’s 35 Division I athletics teams, in addition to club sports, physical education, recreation, fitness and intramural programs. 



Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity changes name to Kappa Pi Kappa

The fraternity previously known as Kappa Kappa Kappa, or Tri-Kap, has changed its name to the Kappa Pi Kappa Society, according to a May 18 statement obtained by The Dartmouth. The statement noted that the new name was selected through a multi-year process of engagement with over 1,000 undergraduate and alumni members of the fraternity and was approved unanimously by its board of directors. 



Town Meeting votes to approve new zoning district on West Wheelock Street

On Tuesday, Article 11 — a residential housing ordinance — was passed at the annual Hanover Town Meeting by a vote of 775 to 565, according to numbers from the Valley News. The warrant for the meeting states that the passage of Article 11 will establish a new zoning district along West Wheelock Street.



President Phil Hanlon and wife Gail Gentes test positive for COVID-19

College president Phil Hanlon and his wife, Gail Gentes, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday morning, the College announced on May 1. According to the announcement, the pair had tested negative on a PCR test as recently as Thursday morning before testing positive on antigen tests over the weekend. 


Saint Motel, KYLE to co-headline Programming Board Green Key concert

Saint Motel and KYLE will perform as co-headliners with Doechii set as the opening musician for the Programming Board’s Green Key concert on May 20, the Programming Board announced today via Instagram. The concert, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Gold Coast Lawn, will kick off the first Green Key festival since 2019.
