Enfield Police arrested 11 intoxicated underage members of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and sent three of them to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center late Monday night after a new members' event held at a roller rink in nearby Enfield, N.H.

Fourteen officers from the Hanover Police Department entered AD at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday and searched the organization's physical plant for over five hours. The fraternity had received no prior notification of the search and at least one member of Safety and Security was on hand throughout the search, according to Hanover Police Chief Nicholas Giaccone.

Harvard University appointed Ryan Travia, coordinator for alcohol and other drug education programs at Dartmouth, as its director of alcohol and substance abuse services late last month. Following his unannounced resignation, Travia will serve beginning Aug. 1, leaving a legacy of successful alcohol and drug awareness programs behind him.

In a surprise move earlier this month, the Board of Trustees lifted its moratorium on the creation of additional single-sex, selective and residential organizations. The decision, which was announced the Monday following Commencement, marks a significant departure from the trustees' 2001 decision to forbid the establishment of additional Greek houses.

Senior Week, that fabled period of pure hedonism before graduation begins, turned Hanover into a zoo for a few days. Relatives and friends descended Main Street looking for food and Dartmouth gear. Three well-established Dartmouth donors pledged major financial support for the future McLaughlin Residential Cluster, the College announced Wednesday. The Berry, Bildner and Byrne families each donated $6 million towards completion of the construction, and their names will adorn three of the six buildings in the cluster.
