Tove Lo — Talking Body

Maya Poddar: The mood of this song is more dirty dancing than chilling on the Green, but it’s catchy and I’ve been humming it all week. The hook and mood are reminiscent of “Hold It Against Me” by Britney Spears, but the production is more modern and fairly interesting for what is essentially a pop song, albeit a Swedish one. Like the rest of Tove Lo’s songs “Talking Body” has a darker edge than most pop, but that doesn’t make it any less fun.

Ratatat — Cream On Chrome

Koryn Ternes: Although my pick this week lacks vocals, I am making a bold prediction that this song will soon be a hit. I recently came across Ratatat’s “Cream On Chrome,” and am obsessed. Instrumental hits are almost non-existent in this day and age, but this NYC duo clearly knows what they’re doing. Even though you can’t sing along, give this song a chance, and I doubt you will regret it.

George Ezra — Budapest

Jessica Zischke: Chances are you’ve heard this song while browsing through Collis around lunchtime, but I keep finding myself going back to this when I need a little pick-me-up. It’s a light, breezy song that will perfectly accompany sunshine or lift your spirits on a grey day. The folksiness of the song infuses the lyrics with an instant brightness and the entire composition is very soft, making it great for unwinding and enjoying the day. Plus, it’s kid-approved.
