Krumpoch kicks off Big Green's NCAA chase

Megan Krumpoch ’14 had a strong performance for the Big Green on the opening night of the NCAA track and field championship, finishing fourth in her eight-person heat on Wednesday to qualify her for Friday night’s championship.

Krumpoch had to wait for the final two heats to see if her 2:04.96 time would be fast enough to qualify her for the final. Krumpoch finished the first lap in last —the field was within half a second — but her strong second lap put her in a position to compete on Friday.

The event continues for the Big Green at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, known as “Track Town USA,” on Friday with Krumpochin the finals of the 800-meter run and John Bleday ’14 and Curtis King ’16 in the men’s 5,000-meter run. Saturday, Abbey D’Agostino ’14 looks to win her third straight title in the 5,000-meter run. She will run alongside Dana Giordano ’16.
