College yield increases to 54.5 percent

With a yield of 54.5 percent, more students have chosen to enroll at Dartmouth than ever before, the College announced Monday. For the first time in seven years, Dartmouth will not use its wait list to fill the Class of 2018.

The higher yield follows a 14 percent drop in total applications from last year. This year's yield increased from last May’s yield of 48.5 percent, when the College offered admission to 1,093 students.

The Class of 2018 has more students than the projected class size of 1,120, according to the press release. The Admissions Office will admit fewer transfer students than in past years to accommodate the large class size.
Ninety four percent of the incoming class ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Among the students who have accepted offers, 11 percent are first-generation college students and 8.4 percent are Latino, each the largest representation in an incoming class.
