Ellis, Larin to lead The Dartmouth in 2014

Lindsay Ellis ’15 and Carla Larin ’15 will become editor-in-chief and publisher of The Dartmouth beginning next term, the outgoing directorate announced at Saturday’s annual Changeover ceremony at Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Ellis, an English major from Newton, Mass., will replace Jenny Che ’14 as editor-in-chief. Ellis joined the news, layout and design sections of The Dartmouth her freshman fall. This term, Ellis is interning at the Chronicle of Higher Education’s faculty section. On campus, she is a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority and volunteers for the Upper Valley Haven's homework club.

“Working for [The Dartmouth] has absolutely defined my time at Dartmouth so far,” Ellis said. “I’m just so honored to work with such an amazingly talented group of writers and editors.”

Larin, who will replace Gardiner Kreglow ’14 as publisher, is an economics and Chinese double major from Franklin Lakes, N.J. Larin became involved with The Dartmouth’s operations and marketing staff her freshman fall after attending an open house.

“It is a real business, so I thought it would be good experience,” Larin said.

On campus, Larin is a member of Alpha Phi sorority.

“We have a great team of leadership for the upcoming year, and I’m looking forward to working with them and making huge improvements,” she said.

Stephanie McFeeters ’15 and Michael Riordan ’15 will replace Felicia Schwartz ’14 and Diana Ming ’14 as executive editors of the paper. McFeeters, a government and Middle Eastern studies double major from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will direct the news, sports, design and photography sections. Riordan, an English major and linguistics minor from Hampton Bays, N.Y., will manage the opinion and arts and entertainment sections, the Mirror, Dartbeat blog and multimedia in addition to the copy editing program.

Taylor Malmsheimer ’15, who was a sports editor last winter, will replace Claire Groden ’14 as day managing editor, with Madison Pauly ’15 and Sasha Dudding ’15 taking over for James Peng ’14 and Leslie Ye ’14 as evening managing editors. Katie McKay ’16 and Lorelei Yang ’15 will become the opinion editors in the winter, taking over from Don Casler ’14 and Jonathan Pedde ’14. Lulu Chang ’15 will become opinion editor in the spring term, to be joined by Emily Albrecht ’16 in the fall. Brett Drucker ’15, who was sports editor last spring, will replace Sam Rauschenfels ’14 to join Blaze Joel ’15 as a sports editor. Ashley Ulrich ’15 will replace Sharla Grass ’14 as editor of the arts and entertainment section.

Erin Landau ’15 and Marina Shkuratov ’15 will become the editors of the Mirror, taking the reins from Amelia Acosta ’14 and Tyler Bradford ‘14. Emma Moley ’15 and Aditi Kirtikar ’15 will edit Dartbeat, replacing Winnie Yoe ‘14. Tracy Wang ’15 will take over from Maggie Rowland ‘14 as photo editor, while Alex Becker ’15 will continue in his role as multimedia editor, as 2013 multimedia editor Alex Gerstein ’15 moves to the business directorate.

On the business side, Piotr Dormus ’15 will replace Nick Judson ’14 as finance and strategy director, with Ashneil Jain ’15 joining him in the spring and fall terms. Dylan Zabell ’15 will retain his role as an advertising director, to be joined by Forrest Beck ’15 in the fall term. Alana Dickson ’15 and Oliver Schreiner ’15 will become the operations and marketing directors in the spring and fall, replacing Horacio Romero ’14. Liz McNally ’16 will become the design director to replace former director Nook Harquail ’14, with Erin O’Neil ’15 joining her in the spring and fall terms. Richard Yu ’15 will continue in his role as technology director in the winter, to be replaced by Alex Gerstein ’15 in the spring and fall.
