Dartmouth ranked 11th by U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report ranked Dartmouth 11th in its 2012 "Best Univeriversity" ranking, down from a ninth-place spot last year, U.S. News announced today. Harvard University, Princeton University and Yale University nabbed the top three spots, continuing the trend from last year's rankings.

For the third year in a row since the category was created, Dartmouth was awarded the number one spot in the "Best Undergraduate Teaching" category.

Dartmouth was ranked seventh of the best value colleges, following Columbia University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Princeton, Yale and Harvard.

Amidst budget cuts last year, the Board of Trustees approved a 5.9-percent increase in tuition, room, board and fees for the 2011-2012 academic year, making Dartmouth the second most expensive Ivy League insitution at $55,365 a year.
