Art history professor Adrian Randolph was appointed associate dean of the faculty for the arts and humanities, according to a statement sent to all faculty members from Dean of the Faculty Michael Mastanduno on June 6. Randolph, who will serve a four-year term in the position, will replace French and comparative literature professor Kate Conley.
Randolph began teaching at the College in 1995, was awarded tenure in 2001 and served as the chair of the art history department in 2002, according to the statement. Randolph, who studies Italian medieval and Renaissance art and architecture, has received national and international accolades for his work, the statement said.
Randolph also serves as the chair of the Committee on Prioritie, and worked with College President Jim Yong Kim and Provost Carol Folt to present a detailed breakdown on the College's $100-million budget cuts and allocations above $1 million in a Faculty of the Arts and Sciences Meeting on May 23, The Dartmouth previously reported.
Randolph received his bachelor's degree from Princeton University and his master's degree from the Courtauld Institute of Art at the University of London in 1989. He received his PhD from Harvard University in 1995, according to the statement.
