Jennrich to serve as Center for Women and Gender director

Jessica Jennrich, director of advising, curriculum and programming for the University of Missouri's women's and gender studies department, will become the College's director of the Center for Women and Gender, according to an announcement on the Center's BlitzMail bulletin.

Jennrich visited the College last month along with three other candidates for the position. In a May 11 presentation, she spoke about her involvement with a successful campaign to protect gender identity under the University of Missouri's nondiscrimination policy, and about the importance of including both "academia and activism" in women and gender centers and programs, The Dartmouth previously reported.

Jennrich received her bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and her master's degree in women's and gender studies from Eastern Michigan University, according to the announcement. She recently presented at the National Women's Studies Association Conference and published an article in York University's Journal of Motherhood Initiative.

Samantha Ivery, assistant dean of student life and advisor to black students, currently serves as the acting director of the Center for Women and Gender. Ivery, who announced her resignation in February, will leave the College in June, The Dartmouth previously reported.
