Fall term to end before Thanksgiving break

Faculty members voted to approve proposed changes to the 2012-2013 academic term calendar at today's meeting of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Fall term will end before Thanksgiving break, and term classes will begin on Sept. 10 in order to accommodate a full 10-week term, according to a report released by the Committee on Instruction and obtained by The Dartmouth.

The calendar proposal, which passed by a vote of over two-thirds of faculty members, was first proposed in the Nov. 30 faculty meeting, The Dartmouth previously reported.

Sophomore Summer will not be shortened as a result of the calendar changes, according to the report. Summer term 2012 will begin on June 21 and will end Aug. 28, the report stated.
