Fidel, Everett to direct The Dartmouth in 2011

Fidel, who will replace Susan Matthews '11 as editor-in-chief, is a double major in biology and film and media studies from Essex, Conn. Fidel is a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and began working for The Dartmouth during her freshman Fall, writing for both news and The Dartmouth Mirror.

"The '11s did a great job, and now we can't wait to take over," Fidel said, "I'm really honored."

Everett, a psychology major from McCall, Idaho, will replace Quincy Darbyshire '11 as publisher. A member of Tri-Delt, Everett began working for The Dartmouth Business Staff during her sophomore Winter.

"I'm thrilled to continue the good work that [Darbyshire] has done to keep the organization financially sound and thriving," Everett said.

Katie Gonzalez '12, a double major in government and Middle Eastern studies, will replace outgoing executive editor Mitch Davis '11. The Manassas, Va., native is currently participating in the government Foreign Study Program in London. Jamila Ma '12, a major in government with minors in Chinese and international studies, will replace executive editor Turia Lahlou '11.

Greg Berger '12 will replace Josh Roselman '11 as day managing editor, while Ann Baum '12 and Madeline Sims '12 will replace Emily Goodell '11 and Drew Joseph '11 as evening managing editors.

On the business side, Will Stone '12 will replace circulation director Michael Bush '11, while Glynnis Kearney '12 and Alex Lucey '12 will take over as advertising directors, a position currently held by Katie Gandy '11. The role of finance director, currently occupied by Alex Bao '11, will be assumed by David Rogg '12 and Dan Rozenfeld '12.

Conrad Scoville '12 and Vince Marriott '13 will replace Tim Dolan '11 and Katie Paxton '11 as sports editors. Caitlin Kennedy '13 and Robert Szypko '12 will succeed Allison Levy '11 as arts and entertainment editors.

Emily Johnson '12 and Kevin Niparko '12 will take the place of outgoing opinion editors Brian Solomon '11 and Rebecca Cress '11. Erin Lansky '12 and Christina Wray '12 will succeed Eve Ahearn '11 as editors of The Dartmouth Mirror.

The new photography editors will be Sujin Lim '12 and Aki Onda '12, replacing outgoing editors Zach Ingbretsen '11, Douglas Gonzalez '11 and Chris Parker '11. Maggie Zou '12 will continue her current role as layout editor, while Catherine Treyz '13 will take over for current graphics editor Stephanie Han '11.

The 2012 Directorate will include the new position of online editor, to be filled by Tatiana Cooke '12.

The outgoing Directorate also recognized several current staff members for their contributions to The Dartmouth. Eliza Relman '13 was named Staff Writer of the Year. Gavin Huang '14, Samuel Rauschenfels '14 and Emily Baer '14 received the Ira T. Holmes Book Award, recognizing their accomplishments during their first term as staff members.

Rachel Carter '14 received an award for outstanding achievements in the arts section, while Austin Major '14 was awarded for his contributions to the sports section. Editors of The Dartmouth Mirror, opinion and photography recognized Mackenzie Bohannon '14, Yoo Jung Kim '14 and Maggie Rowland '14, respectively, for their accomplishments.

In the business section, Branko Cerny '13 received the Moses Davis Award for Outstanding Sophomore Business Staffer. Nick Judson '14, Isaac Guttman '14 and Aaron Goone '14 were presented with Ira T. Holmes Book Awards for advertising, circulation and finance, respectively.
