"[Senior Week has] been lots of fun but exhausting," Madeline Kaye '10 said.
Although Kaye said she enjoyed RiverFest and the Senior Class Gift Reception, she said the time she spent saying goodbye to her friends has been the most meaningful part of Senior Week. Kaye, who is a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, said that the unofficial last meetings of her sorority made her feel nostalgic.
Other greek organizations also held final send-off events for their senior members. Jennifer Bailey '10 said that the former executives of Alpha Phi sorority from the Summer term of the seniors' sophomore year organized the sorority's last meetings.
Although Bailey said she has not attended many of the events organized by the Senior Week Committee, she thought that the committee did a good job organizing events that would appeal to a variety of student interests, noting that there was a balance between events that did and did not include alcohol.
"There's something out there no matter what you like to do," Bailey said.
Jennifer Chong '10 said she spent the week trying to see as many of her classmates as possible.
Along with several friends, Chong said she organized a "Prom" for her and her friends during Senior Week. Although several affiliated students attended the prom, Chong said that part of her intention was to provide an opportunity for unaffiliated students to attend an event similar to the formals hosted by many Greek organizations.
Kaye also said she thought that the Senior Week Committee did a good job organizing events, although the cold and rainy weather reduced attendance, since many of the events were scheduled outside. She added that she had planned to go on one of the scheduled hikes, but the hike was canceled due to bad weather.
The Balch Hill hike, the Freshmen Year Throwback Party in the Choates and the canoe trip to Gilman Island that was scheduled for Thursday were all cancelled due to bad weather, according to 2010 Student Council President Eleni Stavrou '10.
RiverFest, an outdoor party at the Chieftain Motor Inn on the Connecticut River, saw the highest attendance of the events organized by Senior Week Committee, according to Max Pollack '10, who helped organize the event. The party featured musical performances, boat rides, volleyball, inflatable play structures, swimming, food and beer, Pollack said.
The event included performances by Ninjasonik, Body Language, PUNCHES and Clusterfunk, according to Pollack.
Pollack estimates that approximately 600 seniors attended the event.
"I think it was nice for people to just go somewhere else," he said. "They didn't really know what to expect."
Although he said the event was well attended, Pollack said that more students would have come and stayed longer if the weather had been warmer.
Pollack said he hopes RiverFest will become a Senior Week tradition over the next few years.
Other Senior Week events included a Firetower and Velvet Rocks hike, an Senior Executive Committee ice cream social, a "Pancake Paddle" hosted by the Ledyard Canoe Club, a wine tasting event at the Hanover Inn, a formal for the Class of 2010, a barbecue with the Class of 1960, a reception with College President Jim Yong Kim and the Glee Club Commencement Concert.
