The new restaurant at 7 Lebanon St. is the third in a chain of Salt Hill Pub restaurants that Tuohy owns with his brother. The two other locations are in Lebanon and Newport, N.H.

The Salt Hill Pub menu contains traditional items such as burgers and specialty sandwiches, as well as vegetarian options and traditional Irish dishes.

Reid Hannula, the restaurant's kitchen manager, is "a very creative, experienced chef who understands the quality, from-scratch' pub food" that the Tuohys want to provide at the Salt Hill Pub restaurants, Tuohy said.

While the Salt Hill Pub in Lebanon only serves beer, wine and Irish whiskey, the Hanover establishment will feature a full bar, Tuohy said.

In addition to the restaurant and bar experience, Salt Hill Pub in Hanover will also provide live performances by local bands, he said. The restaurant will feature live entertainment at least four nights a week, Tuohy said, adding that this month's calendar includes bands such as Boston's The Van Burens and HEY MAMA.

Tuohy said he chose to open a third restaurant in Hanover because he found Hanover's college town atmosphere appealing.

"We think it is a great town with a large, enthusiastic base of students and professionals across all age groups," Tuohy said. "[It is] similar to, yet independent of, the regular crowd we enjoy at our original location on the Green in Lebanon."

Several students who had been to the Salt Hill Pub or plan to visit in the future said they were excited about the opening of another dining location in Hanover.

Students looking for weekend variety from DDS will enjoy the added option the Salt Hill Pub offers, according to Liz Evans '13.

"After a week or two of running between Thayer [Dining Hall] and the Hop [Courtyard Cafe] for every meal, the last thing I want to do is wait 45 minutes at Molly's for some dinnertime variety," Evans said. "A new restaurant is just what this town needs."

Micaela Klein '10, who has eaten at Salt Hill Pub in Hanover, said in an e-mail to The Dartmouth that the restaurant feels "a little more off-campus than a lot of other dining establishments," although she added that her feeling may only be due to the restaurant's novelty.

"I got a burger and thought it was good," Klein said. "It was nice to mix it up a bit. I also liked the general feel of the place."

Tuohy said that he and his brother "have high hopes for doing business in Hanover" despite the current economic difficulties facing the town and Upper Valley.

"Our pubs are centered on providing a warm, lively, authentic, welcoming pub atmosphere while offering quality, affordable food and beverages," Tuohy said. "That has been our model regardless of economic climate."
