July 27, 11:59 a.m., East Wheelock Street

Hanover Police observed a 21-year-old male accelerating his Ford Mustang while exiting A-Lot, leaving 30 feet of tire track marks in the process. The Massachusetts resident initially claimed that the acceleration was stuck, but later admitted he was just excited to get home. Police arrested the driver for disorderly conduct.

July 27, 4:48 a.m., South Main Street

A Hanover Inn employee contacted Hanover Police to report an intoxicated man near the bus stop in front of the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Officers arrived to discover the individual, who is a 51-year-old Hanover resident, with two bottles of Smirnoff Vodka next to him, one empty and the other mostly full. The man could not walk without assistance, and was taken by ambulance to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where he was placed into protective custody.

July 29, 1:08 a.m., South Main Street & Lebanon Street

Hanover Police received a report from a citizen about two people climbing trees by the post office on South Main Street Upon investigation, officers discovered a pair of young men hanging from the branch of a tree. The subjects were visibly intoxicated -- "sweating and disheveled." One individual, a 19-year-old resident of Lebanon, N.H., was arrested for unlawful possession and intoxication, while the other, a 21 year old from Malden, Mass., was placed in protective custody. Neither man is a Dartmouth student.

July 29, 7:52 p.m., Lyme Road

DHMC called Hanover Police to report that a female Hanover resident had been bitten by her own dog.

Aug. 1, 7:08 a.m., Lebanon Street

Police discovered an intoxicated man passed out on the lawn of the Housing for the Elderly. The 51 year old, who had been placed into protective custody on Jul. 27 at the bus stop in front of the Hop, was discovered lying partially under a picnic table with an empty glass that had been knocked over nearby. He was transported to DHMC by ambulance and placed into protective custody.

Aug. 2, 5:37 p.m., Hanover Center Road

A 22-year-old woman had the breaks of her car serviced last Thursday afternoon. On her way home, she discovered that her car, a blue 1998 Mercury Tracer, did not slow down upon application of the breaks. When she was finally able to bring the vehicle to a halt, she exited the car and discovered that the right-back tire was smoking. The tire eventually caught fire, setting the entire car aflame.

Aug. 3, 12:08 p.m., South Main Street

A Hanover Police officer was assaulted while trying to place a 45-year-old woman into protective custody for intoxication. The female resident of West Lebanon, N.H., grabbed the arresting officer on the inside of his right thigh while he attempted to place her in handcuffs. Her actions resulted in her arrest on charges of simple assault and resisting arrest or detention.

Aug. 4, 11:39 p.m., Allen Street

A Ramunto's deliveryman made a stop along his route, running into Stinson's Village Store and leaving the keys in his blue 2002 Kia Spectra. He exited the establishment a short while later to discover his car being driven away. Dartmouth Safety and Security later discovered the vehicle parked in front of McNutt on N. Main St. Police do not have any leads on who committed the theft.

Aug. 9, 6:49 p.m., Lyme Road

Police arrested a Hanover man for felonious sexual assault after forcibly fondling a female under the age of 16. The 53-year-old male, an employee at a business establishment in downtown Hanover, accosted the daughter of one of the store's customers. The young woman later revealed what had happened to her parents, who reported the incident to police. The Class B felony charges could result in up to seven years in jail.

Aug. 11, 12:21 a.m., Webster Avenue

Hanover Police responded to a report of an intoxicated, unconscious 19-year-old female at Bones Gate fraternity. Officers discovered the woman, a member of the Dartmouth Class of 2010, near a pile of vomit. She had soiled herself and her clothes were crumpled. Police transported the rising sophomore by ambulance to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where she was arrested for unlawful possession and intoxication. She is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18 and is eligible for diversion.

Aug. 12, 1:57 a.m., Webster Avenue

Dartmouth Safety and Security contacted Hanover Police after discovering a 20-year-old male sitting slumped-over the side patio of Tabard Co-ed fraternity. A rising junior at the College, the intoxicated student was unresponsive to questions, had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and had vomited both on himself and on the ground in front of him. He was arrested for unlawful possession and intoxication and has a court date set for Sept. 18. He is eligible for diversion.

Aug. 12, 4:30 a.m., Webster Avenue

Hanover Police arrived at Phi Delta Alpha fraternity after receiving a call from Safety and Security that an intoxicated Phi Delt member had fallen out of his bed and sustained injuries to his head. Blood covered the floor of his room and the 20-year-old male faded in and out of consciousness. When paramedics asked the student, a member of the Class of 2009, for his name, he responded by saying only "asshole." The rising junior repeated this response to a number of questions, including inquiries regarding his injury.
