Terra Branson '10 and Jay Calhoun Tu'08 were recently awarded scholarships by Accenture's American Indian Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is awarded to high achieving American Indian and Native Alaskan students across the nation for both graduate and undergraduate degrees. The scholarship recipients were selected from a pool of over 140 candidates based on academic achievement, leadership ability and commitment to tribal culture and community. Branson, of the Muscogee tribe of Okmulgee, Okla., received $20,000 towards an undergraduate degree at the College, and Calhoun, of the Cherokee tribe of Tahlequah, Okla., received $15,000 towards his Masters in Business Administration at the Tuck School of Business.

A dedication ceremony for the new MacLean Engineering Sciences Center will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in Collis Common Ground. The ceremony will begin with an address by keynote speakers Tillman Gerngross, professor of engineering, and Charles Hutchinson, Krehbiel Professor for Emerging Technologies and Dean Emeritus of the Thayer School of Engineering. At 3 p.m., the dedication will begin and will be followed by a reception and tours of the facility. The addition to the Thayer School of Engineering increases the facility's size by more than 60 percent and includes new academic resources such as project laboratories, studio classrooms and conference rooms on every floor.

J. Patrick Rowan '86 was appointed Deputy Assistant Attorney General for counterterrorism and counterespionage under Kenneth L. Wainstein, who was sworn in Thursday as first Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division. The National Security Division is meant to improve communication and bridge the gap between the Office of Intelligence Policy and Review and the Criminal Divisions Counterterrorism and Counterespionage Sections. Rowan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the College and has since served in numerous government positions, including assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, special counsel for the Office of General Counsel of the FBI and counsel to the director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys, as well as a number of positions in the Justice Department.
