Jan. 10, Lyme Road, 1:35 p.m.
A private citizen complained to Hanover Police that a man in a Subaru Legacy was driving recklessly. According to the report, the man was tailgating, swerving, speeding and passing in no-passing zones. Police opened an investigation and discovered that the 52-year-old Lebanon resident had a long history of driving violations. They then attained a warrant for the man's arrest and arrested him for reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Jan. 12, Lyme Road, 2:25 p.m.
Police arrested a 17-year-old girl for negligent driving during a three-car accident on Jan. 5 that left one person with a compressed spinal disc. Based on an investigation that included statements from witnesses and those involved in the accident, police concluded that the Hanover High School student was not paying attention when her green Ford Ranger slammed into the back of a red Subaru Forester, which in turn crashed into the back of a 2005 silver Ford Mustang. The injured individual was in the Subaru.
Jan. 13, Tuck Mall, 3:36 a.m.
Safety and Security requested police assistance with two males whom they had caught trying to steal a television from Buchanan Hall at Tuck. Police arrived to find Safety and Security with two 23-year-old men, neither of whom are affiliated with Dartmouth. Police did not arrest either man because they did not witness the incident, but the case is still open.
Jan. 14, Webster Avenue, 9 a.m.
Safety and Security reported to Hanover Police that a man was sleeping alone in his car. Police arrived to survey the situation and found that the individual was sober and just taking a rest.
Jan. 16, South Main Street, 2:23 a.m.
An officer on patrol came across two males on South Main Street. When the two noticed the police cruiser, they turned down an alleyway by Molly's Restaurant & Bar, leading the officer to drive around to the other side of the alley.
When the subjects saw the cruiser again, they turned and ran behind Stinson's Village Store. The officer caught up to them again on Allen Street by town hall, got out of his car and determined that the two 19-year-old Dartmouth students had been drinking. After he frisked both freshmen to see if they were hiding anything in their clothes, he arrested them for unlawful possession of alcohol by consumption and for intoxication.
Jan. 16, East Wheelock Street, 10:45 p.m.
The valet at the Hanover Inn flagged down a Hanover Police officer to tell him that a drunk man in the lobby desired a ride home from the police. The officer brought the severely intoxicated 50-year-old to the emergency room at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
