Police Blotter

April 11, Three Mile Road, 7:57 p.m.

The male landowner of a hay field complained to Hanover police that a white sport utility vehicle had driven onto his field and became stuck in the mud. The driver, a 21-year-old female, had driven the 2001 Nissan Xterra through the mud on a dare from a friend and had made significant ruts in the field. A neighbor eventually succeeded in pulling the Xterra out of the mud, and police decided not to arrest the driver. The field owner expects the driver to pay for the damage she caused to the field.

April 11, Pleasant Street, 8 p.m.

Hanover police received a request for assistance in finding a Hanover resident's stray ferret. The police do not believe that the ferret has been recovered.

April 12, Lebanon Street, 1:22 p.m.

A female employee of the Frances C. Richmond School reported to Hanover police that she had been victim of an Internet sweepstakes fraud based out of the United Kingdom. She allegedly received a message on her school e-mail account claiming that she had won a U.K. lottery. She supplied the sender of the e-mail with significant personal information including her name, address, occupation and telephone number before discovering the invalidity of the lottery. It does not appear, however, that she provided enough information to allow the fraud perpetrator to steal any money.

April 13, Lyme Road, 8 p.m.

A female Dartmouth freshman reported to Hanover police that she had been sitting on the lawn in front of Hinman Hall with a video camera when a strange man approached her and asked her to videotape him while he masturbated. Police contacted the man and asked him to come down to the police station for questioning. The man drove down to the station, and while he was at the station, the officers realized that his driver's license had been suspended for unspecified reasons. They then arrested him for operating a car with a suspended license.

April 17, Reservoir Road, 12:20 p.m.

A woman called police for help because she had locked her bicycle in the basement of her apartment building and had forgotten the combination to the bike lock. An officer arrived and cut the lock with a bolt cutter.
