March 30, Sullivan County, 8:42 a.m.
A Sullivan County grand jury indicted 38-year-old Douglas Mclean on multiple counts of prescription counterfeiting spanning multiple jurisdictions, including at least 15 times in Hanover, mainly at Eastman's pharmacy. The Newport, N.H., resident had been attempting to acquire primarily the narcotic painkiller Percocet and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax throughout his forgery spree.
March 31, South Main Street, 7:04 a.m.
A uniformed police officer inside the Foodstop convenience store noticed a man looking at him nervously and trying to avoid eye contact. The officer ran a license plate check on the suspicious man's tan Toyota Camry and discovered that three warrants had been issued for the car owner's arrest for unspecified reasons, and that the car owner had lost his license for defaulting on child support. The officer pulled the car over and the driver was arrested for the three prior warrants and for driving after license suspension.
April 1, South Park Street, 1:39 p.m.
An anonymous informant alerted Hanover police that four suspicious high-school-aged boys were sitting behind an apartment building during school hours. Police arrived and arrested a 17-year-old Hanover High School student for possession of marijuana.
April 1, Greensboro Road, afternoon
Hanover Police is investigating a report of the death of a domestic cat by means of a firearm. The cat was likely shot some time Friday afternoon. The cat's owner found the cat later that evening and brought the cat for treatment to the veterinarian's office, where the cat died from the firearm wound. Police are seeking information about suspicious activity or gunshots occurring on April 1 in that area.
April 1, South Main Street, 4:22 p.m.
An employee of Bella witnessed a 15-year-old girl attempting to shoplift two items of clothing valued jointly at about $90. The employee called the police after the girl had left the store and then ran after the girl and brought her back to Bella. Hanover police arrived and arrested her for shoplifting.
April 2, Webster Avenue, 1:40 a.m.
Safety and Security called Hanover Police for assistance after a Chi Gamma Epsilon fraternity member requested help after Thaddeus Olchowski, an intoxicated freshman, leapt from a first floor Chi Gam window. Police arrived with an ambulance and, while attempting to care for Olchowski, the freshman allegedly became combative and attempted to fight the authorities off of him. The officers subdued him, and an ambulance brought him to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Olchowski was later arrested for illegal possession of alcohol.
April 4, Lebanon Street. 10:24 a.m.
Hanover High School administration reported to Hanover police that a 15-year-old male student was possibly under the influence of an unidentified illegal substance. Police arrived and took the minor into protective custody.
