March 12, Rip Road, 10:39 p.m.
A man reported to police that he had received a prank phone call from a woman whose voice he did not recognize. Allegedly, she began yelling at him and then threatened to kill him and throw a plastic rock at him. Hanover Police have no leads in this investigation.
March 15, Lebanon Street, 7:03 a.m.
An officer pulled over a blue 1994 Chevrolet pick-up truck for driving through a red light. Upon conducting a license check on the 63-year-old man, the officer realized that a warrant had been issued for the driver's arrest in Vermont for failure to pay an unspecified fine. He subsequently arrested the driver, who has an April 12 court date in Vermont.
March 16, Hanover Lot 1, 2:25 p.m.
A police officer recognized Joseph Elsener, a 49-year-old man for whom an arrest warrant had been issued, walking in the parking lot. Elsener was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol for an incident on Dec. 15, 2003. The judge issued the arrest warrant after Elsener failed to appear at his sentencing hearing last fall. After spotting Elsener, the officer called the police station for support, but when back up arrived, Elsener had already fled.
March 19, School Street, 1:29 a.m.
Police noticed three women having difficulty walking in the parking lot behind Molly's restaurant and the Nugget Theater. The women walked out of the officer's sight for a few moments, but soon thereafter they piled into a car and drove right past the officer. The officer noticed that the driver was one of the women he had seen and he followed them. He then pulled the car over and arrested 23-year-old Karen Sagall, a Dartmouth employee, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Sagall underwent an Intoxilizer test at the police station and was released. She has a court date on April 12.
March 19, School Street, 10:52 p.m.
An officer again noticed Joseph Elsener walking on the sidewalk in town. This time, however, the officer arrested him.
March 28, Allen Street, 9:10 p.m.
The clerk at Stinson's Village Store called police to check the validity of the photo identification of a customer attempting to buy alcohol. An officer arrived and ran the data from the Texas identification through the computer system. The inquiry revealed that the identification was valid.
March 29, East Wheelock Street, 1:40 a.m.
Officers noticed that a girl walking in a group of people was holding an open beer can. Police asked for her identification and, when verifying her age, they learned that two outstanding warrants had been issued for the Dartmouth senior's arrest, one for reckless operation of an automobile and one for operation after license suspension. They arrested the 22-year-old, who has a court date April 20.
