Police Blotter

Feb. 15, Sanborn Road, 7:54 a.m.

Police responded to a report from a resident of Sanborn Road that a small silver car "always goes the wrong way" on the one-way street past the Howe Library. The resident claims to see the car going the wrong way every couple of days.

Feb. 17, Lyme Road, 3:05 a.m.

A female guest of the Chieftain Motor Lodge complained to the Hanover Police that the noise coming from a nearby room was too loud. An occupant of the boisterous room somehow learned of the noise complaint and called the woman's room pretending to be a police officer coming to help solve her problem. When the woman discovered that he was not in fact a police officer, she called the police again complaining that she had been harassed. She eventually left the hotel to go stay with relatives.

Feb. 17, School Street, 10:30 a.m.

A couple heard what sounded like a car crash outside of their home Monday at about 1:20 a.m. When they woke up in the morning, they found vehicle parts on their front lawn and reported the hit and run to the police. Apparently the car left the road, hit a tree in front of the house and drove away. The abandoned car parts suggest that the car may have been a tan or gold Ford Taurus. The case is still under investigation, and the police have a suspect.

Feb. 17, South Park Street, 2:04 p.m.

Employees of the Hanover Co-op Food Store alerted police that they had caught someone trying to steal a bottle of wine. When police arrived on the scene, they arrested a 15-year-old boy for shoplifting. He will go to either juvenile court or a diversion program.

Feb. 21, Tuck Mall, 4:47 p.m.

A Tuck student reported that his green Toyota Corolla had been hit while parked and unattended in the River parking lot. The student had found a dent to the right fender in front of the driver's door and a note from a witness claiming that a pick-up truck had hit his car and driven away. The witness, however, failed to get a view of the truck's license plate. The incident is still under investigation, but there are no suspects.

Feb. 21, Grant Road, 11:03 p.m.

A Hanover resident reported that unauthorized charges had been made on her debit card. Apparently, someone got hold of her account number and spent at least $2,200 at Nordstrom, Burberry and Macy's in Costa Mesa, Calif. The Hanover Police are working on the case in conjunction with police in Costa Mesa.
