As Earth Day approaches, Backpacker Magazine is urging people to "Get Out More." Tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the basement of Robinson Hall Amy and Brent Anslinger from Backpacker Magazine will host the event co-sponsored by Cabin and Trail which is "intended to rally interest, answer questions, and get people excited about being outdoors," according to Peter Brewitt, last term's chair of Cabin and Trail.
Each year, Backpacker Magazine, which Brewitt described as "one of the premier outdoors magazines," tours the country trying to get people to participate in outdoors activities, he said. This year's event, however, is the first time the tour has stopped at Dartmouth.
At the event, according to Brewitt, the magazine representatives will set up tables with information and will be making a presentation on outdoor activities. He said the tables will be providing packets with gear and energy bars provided by the various outdoor companies sponsoring the event.
Earlier on Tuesday Cabin and Trail will be sponsoring a hike up Gile Mountain, also co-sponsored by Backpacker Magazine. The hike will depart from behind Robinson Hall at 3:30 p.m.
Both events are open to the entire community, but are particularly designed for Dartmouth students and members of the Dartmouth Outdoors Club.
