The Dartmouth

Starting In N.Y.

After passing their only preseason test with a 68-54 exhibition win over St. Francis Xavier University last Friday night, the Dartmouth men's basketball team travels to western New York tonight for its season opener against Binghamton University.

Co-captain Vedad Osmanovic '02 views Binghamton as a more formidable threat than what the team faced last week.

"Binghamton is a stronger team, in my opinion, and they are hungry, so the competition will be better," Osmanovic said. "It is always challenging to play on the road."

Indeed, the Big Green should be wary of Binghamton, which recently became a Division I program. Led by second-year coach Al Walker, the Bearcats hope to start their campaign as a newly crowned Division I school with a victory over Dartmouth.

However, head coach Dave Faucher and the rest of the Big Green have other plans in mind as they, too, hope to start their season off on the right foot.

Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
