Looking for Consistency on the Road

With its losing streak standing at six matches, the Big Green volleyball squad desperately wants to regain the winning ways it experienced prior to the injury of co-captain and star middle blocker Jen Madsen '02. The women will try to find that elusive victory in matches tonight at Penn and tomorrow at Princeton.

Penn will be an especially tough test for Dartmouth (7-13, 2-8 Ivy), as the Quakers (14-4, 8-1) sit atop the Ivy League standings. It won't get much easier against the red-hot Princeton Tigers (12-7, 6-3), winners of six consecutive matches heading into the weekend.

Nonetheless, Dartmouth showed it could hang with the heavyweights in its gritty performance against Brown last Saturday.

The recipe for success will depend on more consistent play.

"We are going into the weekend looking to win the first games of the two matches," said Madsen. "Our goal is to maintain a steady pace throughout the matches so that there are no huge momentum swings."
