V-Ball: Double Ivy Dip

The Dartmouth women's volleyball team heads into this weekend's contests at Leede Arena against Princeton (tonight at 7) and Penn (tomorrow at 4) with a 7-9 overall record and 2-4 record in the Ivy League.

The Big Green is coming off a tough weekend in which the team was swept by Cornell and Columbia on the road by a pair of 3-1 scores.

Ideally, the Dartmouth women would like to emerge from the weekend contests with two wins against a couple of tough Ivy League foes, but the women know this will be a difficult task because both Princeton and Penn swept their games last weekend and will be riding a strong wave of momentum into Leede Arena.

With most of the Big Green families in attendance for the team's annual Parents Weekend, the women hope to minimize the errors and inconsistency that have plagued the squad over the past two weekends in order to get its Ivy League season back on track.

Another intriguing storyline will be the defensive play of Ashley Dean '02, who is 40 digs shy of the all-time Dartmouth record.

If the team can execute its well-balanced attack effectively and efficiently in these crucial matches, the Big Green can bring its record back to .500 and begin an ascent back up the Ivy League standings.
