Standing Out in the Crowd

Mary McVeigh '03, Women's Soccer/Midfielder

McVeigh led Dartmouth to its third and fourth consecutive wins and helped propel the Big Green to third in Ivy standings. In a key matchup of regionally-ranked opponents, McVeigh (pictured at left) netted the game-winner in Dartmouth's 1-0 win against Harvard. She also registered an assist in the Big Green's 4-1 non-conference victory over Fairfield. She leads the team with 12 points (three goals, six assists). This is her first career player of the week selection.

Rebekka Stucker '04, Field Hockey/Back

Stucker helped the Big Green to a pair of wins -- their fourth and fifth in a row -- raising their record to 11-4 overall. She gave Dartmouth a 4-2 win over Harvard when she scored a penalty corner, which would be the eventual game-winner, late in the first half. Stucker also assisted the first goal of Dartmouth's 2-1 overtime triumph against UMass. Stucker has 22 points this year (nine goals, four assists). This is her first player of the week award.

Fred Ware '03, Football/Punter

Ware, named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week, is the nation's third-leading punter at 43.2 yards per kick, and kept Harvard in trouble by averaging 46.5 yards on four punts in the tough 31-21 loss. Ware's longest punt of the day was a 57-yarder and he also registered a solo tackle in the game.
