Kickers Looking Better

On paper it seems that Dartmouth's matchup with Harvard this Saturday should be a blowout. Harvard is unbeaten in the Ivy League and stands at 8-2 overall, while Dartmouth is winless in League play and is barely keeping its head above water at 4-6. However, you can bet that it won't be the match you see on paper.

The Big Green just beat Harvard's city-mates Boston College on Wednesday, and have been playing some tremendous soccer. Freshman forward Scott Darci, last week's Ivy League Rookie of the Week, is tied for the team lead in goals (3) and has been teaming up with fellow front-liners Juan Romera '03 and Matt LaBarre '04 quite nicely.

Harvard, meanwhile, will be looking to sophomore Ladd Fritz to provide their scoring, as he leads the team with five goals. Defensively, the team hasn't given up a goal since September 26th, something that could worry Big Green coach Jeff Cook.

However, to show you just what kind of a match-up this will be, Harvard lost to BC 3-2 on that fateful September 26, the same BC team Dartmouth beat two days ago. Get ready for a great battle, and no matter what happens, there will be one disappointed team, and one elated team.

My money's on the Big Green, though, solely on the fate factor, and the way they've been playing of late.
