To the Editor:
Even though I did not know the Zantops, I have been moved by the outpouring of tributes for this seemingly ordinary and unheralded couple. That they could touch so many lives all over the world, while living quietly in the remoteness of Etna, is an example to us all. It has made me examine whether I have made any contributions to my community even aproaching the level that they did, and made me resolve to try harder.
Since their deaths, I have had emails from almost everyone I know -- long lost high school classmates, former students -- all expressing concern for me. They feel, as I do, the need to nurture the relationships that define us. The Zantops have shown us how valuable it is to tell people that you love, appreciate and care about them. Do it today.
