Krishna hands over SA to new President

The outgoing Student Assembly conducted their last official group meeting of the year last night, as President Dean Krishna '01 passed on the reigns to president-elect Jorge Miranda '01.

Krishna also announced that Josh Green '00 and Teresa Knoedler '00 were the recipients of the Case Dorkey '99 Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented on the basis of contributions to the Assembly.

In a picturesque moment, Krishna handed Miranda a large bottle of Tylenol that the former's predecessor Josh Green '00 had given him. And although Green had told Krishna to take one whenever the Assembly gave him a headache, Krishna said that he had not taken any of the medicine during the year. Krishna advised Miranda to enjoy his position rather than "stress out about the Assembly."

Krishna described his feelings as "bittersweet," now that his tenure as president is over.

"This year was a lot of fun, and I'm glad we gave it our best. I'm so proud of the members; they made it a great Assembly," he told The Dartmouth.

Krishna also said he is confident in Miranda's ability to lead the Assembly next year.

"Jorge is the student body's lemur. He's got a strong sense of purpose and he's mostly nocturnal. He's destined to do great things."

Vice president-elect Chance Hill '01 announced that a BlitzMail computer has been installed in Moore Hall.

Also announced at the meeting was an update on the D-Plan committee, which is currently compiling data on the D-plan survey. The committee should be ready to make a presentation to the administration in report form by next week.

The Assembly will finish up this year with a cocktail lecture entitled "Pornographic Media: Fantasy and Facticity in Postmodern Image Culture" and will also organize an open discussion co-hosted with Women in Politics on "Dartmouth Women and Elections."

The Assembly will also put on its annual "Blow Your DBA Night" next Tuesday.
