Catamounts upset baseball 7-5

University of Vermont broke a 5-5 tie on the top of the ninth inning when Dan Ruane hit a deep double to center field and the Catamounts went on to beat the Big Green, 7-5.

Dartmouth dropped its season record to 13-11, while Vermont improved to 15-8.

After UVM took a 3-0 lead, Jason Dacosta '03 batted in two runs in the second inning and junior catcher Mike Levy reached home on three Vermont errors to tie the game.

The game was tied again at five after five innings, and Dartmouth struggled to beat Vermon'ts relief pitcher Brian Robinson, who allowed only one hit.

Freshman Brian Gattis started on the mound for the Green and he pitched five innings while allowing three earned runs.

Relief pitcher Michael Brown '02 took over for Gattis in the sixth inning. He pitched three scoreless frames before Ruane drove in the game-winning run in the ninth inning. Brown had two strikeouts.

Mike Mileusnic '03 went 3-for-4 for the afternoon, while posting one RBI and one run.

Centerfielder James Little '00 hit 1-for-4 as he drove in one RBI. Shortstop Matthew Klentak '02 also recorded an RBI.

The Big Green will visit St. Anselm today. The game starts at 3:30 p.m.
