Men's Golf
Lee Birchall '02 had the best showing for the men's golf team, shooting 80-75--155 to finish tied for 10th at the Army Invitational Sunday.
As a team, the Big Green were 14th after the first round Saturday and couldn't pick up any ground on Sunday, despite a 19-shot improvement. A total of 17 teams competed.
Another freshman, Andrew Pisacano, was tied for 35th with 81-80--161.
Connecticut won the team title with a 36-hole total of 610, five shots ahead of St. Joseph's. Medalist honors went to Mike Vandenberg of Loyola with 71-74--145.
Cross Country
The Dartmouth men's and women's cross country teams were in action at the Penn State Invitational on Saturday, and both finished in the top three.
The 29th-ranked Big Green men finished with 59 points, behind only 12th-ranked William and Mary (52). The University of Virginia finished third with a 101 score. The race covered 5.2 miles and featured 11 teams.
William and Mary's Matt Lane won the race with a time of 25:27. Dartmouth's top finisher, Geoff Nickerson '00 , placed sixth in 26:08. Parker Pruett '01 was the next Big Green runner to cross the finish line in 10th place with a time of 26:15. Don Conrad '99 and Adam Wallace '02 tied with a time of 26:21.
The 12th-ranked Big Green women -- competing in an eight- team race -- finished third with a score of 101. Georgetown, ranked eighth, won the race with 22 points, followed by 18th-ranked William and Mary with 55 points.
The Hoyas' Kristen Gordon won the race with a time of 17:26. Dartmouth's top finisher was Anne Devlin '99 in 17:36. Kersti Miller was 17th for the Green, finishing in 18:17, while Lara Niell '02 took 20th with a time of 18:22. Kelly Keene '01 finished 28th, and freshman Dagny Dingman placed 34th.
Both the men's and women's teams prepare for the New England championship on Friday, October 16.
Men's Crew
At the Head of the Connecticut, three Dartmouth men's lightweight boats came home with medals to highlight the Big Green's participation. In Rochester, N.Y., the men's heavyweight eight finished sixth out of 28 teams.
