F. Hockey stuns No. 18 UNH, 2-1

The Big Green field hockey team shocked the University of New Hampshire, ranked 19th in the nation, with a 2-1 victory in double overtime yesterday in Durham.

Junior Kristen Scopaz's

second goal of the afternoon with 2:21 left in the second overtime propelled Dartmouth to their third straight win after a 1-4 start on the season. Co-Captain Lauren Worley '99 set up Scopaz's game-winner.

Scopaz's first goal midway through the second half sent the game into overtime. This time, it was Kristen Leadbeter '00 with the assist, a pass that would ignite the Big Green comeback.

UHN opened the day's scoring with 16:33 left in the first half on a goal from forward Nicole Moore.

This was the third straight time that the intra-state rivalry has gone into overtime. The Big Green dropped both games last season to the Wildcats, the latter coming in the ECAC tournament's opening round.

It was the Big Green's second straight win over a ranked-opponent, having knocked off Brown on Saturday.
