Three '99s selected for honors

Ten Big Green athletes, including four sophomores, were honored with All-League academic selections for their performances on the field and in the classroom during the Spring term. The students were nominated by the athletic department and must have better than a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to be eligible for the selection.

The three sophomores, Alisa Antkowiak, Andrew Dance and Gabe Sauerhoff were all second year letter winners. Antowiak, a psychology major, was a key thrower on the Big Green track and field squad while Dance, the starting goaltender for the men's lacrosse team, had a strong year in goal, allowing an average of just 12.65 goals against him per game. Sauerhoff was the number one singles players on the Big Green's tennis team and was instrumental part of the Big Green's success in 1997.

"It's nice to be recognized for my performance on and off the field, especially since it requires so much effort to balance academics and athletics at this school," Dance said. "It's always great to receive individual honors, but I think that this honor is representative of the character of the athletes on the lacrosse team and at Dartmouth in general."

The other Big Green athletes to receive the honor were Kenneth Deem '98, Michael Fortier '97, Kelly Hannigan '97, Andrea Krumholz '97, Scott Simon '97 and Tracy Tylee '98.
