To the Editor:
The Task Force on Undergraduate Social Life was established last term by Dean Pelton to review undergraduate social life and make recommendations to enhance social options and activities currently available to undergraduates. Input from the student body is very important for this Task Force to succeed in its mission.
We do want every student on this campus to have the opportunity to provide her or his feedback to the Task Force. We have created three different options to enable students to give feedback and information to Task Force members. The first is the survey distributed at registration on Monday. We had close to 800 students fill out surveys. We wanted to say thank you to all those who took the time to complete the survey. We appreciate your cooperation in making the survey so successful. For those who did not get the opportunity to participate in the survey on Monday, we will be again administering it today, Friday, January 10 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. You will find our representatives in the Hopkins Center near the HBs.
The second opportunity for students to give their insights , thoughts and perspective to the Task Force will occur on Monday, January 27th. At 7 p.m. the Task Force will be holding a public meeting that will serve two purposes. First, we hope to report some of the findings from the recent survey. The second purpose will be to break the group down into smaller focus groups to discuss specific aspects of the social experience with Task Force members. We encourage all members of the Dartmouth community to attend. This public meeting will be held in Collis Center.
At any time, we welcome students to blitz "Social Life" to contribute their opinions and concerns. This is the third method we have put into place to collect information from students regarding their life outside of the classroom.
Please take advantage of these opportunities to share your experiences, opinions and ideas with the Task Force. Thank you again for your interest and participation!
