The Spring Fair will come to the College tomorrow afternoon, complete with authentic fair music, food and activities.
From noon until 4 p.m., the Green will serve as the location for a plethora of fair-related activities.
This year marks the third year that the events of Green Key Weekend have centered around a theme. "A Tribute to Bob Marley" and "Helldorado" have been the themes of the last two years.
Green Key Committee Chair Kathy Keyser '96 said the committee tried to choose a theme which would be inclusive of many different kinds of things and also emphasize the outdoor, spring aspect of the weekend.
"This year, members of the Green Key Society are helping to coordinate the booths sponsored by various college organizations on the Green," Keyser said.
Keyser said having a theme provides a kind of unifying planning mechanism and gives the committee direction. "It helps us decide what kind of food, music, and entertainment we want" she said.
The theme "Spring Fair" seemed to be the most comprehensive, Keyser said, and many different activities could be incorporated into it.
Numerous campus organizations will be sponsoring booths for the afternoon for such activities as dunking, face painting and temporary tattooing.
The Programming Board is also sponsoring activities such as Twin Peaks -- an event similar to velcro Olympics.
Keyser said Bloods, a restaurant based in White River Junction, will provide snacks and refreshments --which will include ice cream, cotton candy and water ice. The snacks and refreshments will be free, she added.
A band called the Flames will play music from primarily the '50s and '60s throughout the afternoon, she said.
Programming Board member David Grelotti '96, who is in charge of prizes, said area businesses have donated many prizes to award the booths and people who participate in the activities sponsored by the booths.
In the case of rain, Keyser said events scheduled to take place on the Green tomorrow afternoon will be moved to Sunday afternoon from 12 to 4.
