Dartmouth athletes honored

Ten Dartmouth student-athletes earned All-League Academic Honors this spring.

Dartmouth's women's teams were represented by Julia Doster '97, Deirdre Milligan '98, Trudy Muller '96, Wendi Potter '96 and Sara Vogler '96.

The five honorees from the men's teams were Jake Isler '96, Todd Newman '96, Chris Schmidt '96, Holden Spaht '96 and Will Uppington '96.

These athletes, along with the 70 other All-League Academic selections from the seven other Ivy League schools, "were starters or key reserves on any officially recognized varsity team" and also maintained a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, according to the press release.

The athletes from each school were chosen by their respective institutions from a pool of eligible student-athletes.

Ten different teams were represented by the Dartmouth All-League Academic selections.

Three rowers, Potter, Newman and Schmidt, earned honors. The three spread the distinction over the women's, heavyweight and lightweight teams, respectively.

Potter, an Environmental and Evolutionary Biology major is a two-year letterwinner and occupies the sixth seat in the varsity boat.

Both psychology major Newman and history major Schmidt are three-year letterwinners. Schmidt is also the captain of the lightweight team.

There were also representatives from both the men's and women's track and field teams. Both Uppington, a government and economics double major, and psychology major Milligan compete in track events.

Milligan earned second team All-Ivy at the Heptagonal Championship in the 10,000 meters. Uppington is a four-year letterwinner who specializes in middle distance races.

Muller, a history major, captains the women's tennis team, while Spaht, an economics major, does the same for the men's team.

Isler has earned spots on the first All-Ivy team last year and the second All-Ivy team this year while pursuing an economics major.

Biology major Doster also earned first team All-Ivy status and last year made honorable mention.

Vogler, a biology major, won the Northeast Intercollegiate Championships this year.
