Panhell, IFC elect officers

Sophomores Jessica Russo and Jason DiMarino were elected summer presidents of the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils, respectively.

Geoffrey Garinger '97, an Alpha Delta fraternity brother, was last night elected vice-president of the IFC, the governing body of the College's fraternities.

Members of Panhell, the self-governing body of the College's sororities, elected Epsilon Kappa Theta sister Marcie Handler '97 as summer vice-president.

DiMarino, a member of Sigma PhiEpsilon fraternity, said the council has three goals for the summer.

The first goal is to make members feel a sense of belonging to the Greek system, as well as their own house. The second goal is to work on IFC programming and the final goal is to fully prepare for fall rush.

"If we accomplish our goals -- and I fully expect to accomplish all the goals we laid out -- we will achieve more than the IFC has done in the past," he said.

Sam Keating '97, a member of Chi Heorot fraternity, was elected programming chair and Kevin O'Neil '97, a member of Zeta Psi fraternity was elected treasurer and secretary.

Panhell elected its summer officers at a meeting on Wednesday night.

Russo, a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, said she will "use the Panhell committee as a springboard to get all the women on campus together."

Handler said she will concentrate on producing a booklet about rush to be given to interested women in fall term.

"I'm excited about having such a good role providing information for people who are rushing," Handler said.

Kappa Delta Epsilon sister Angelique Crain '97 was elected summer secretary.

Fiona Koper '97, a member of Delta Gamma sorority, will serve as treasurer.

Panhell elected Sigma Delta sorority sister Kate Protextor '97 and DG sister Susan Saalman '97 as the summer program chairs, while Antonia Golianopoulos '97 will be the social chair.
