Class Day speakers chosen

The Senior Executive Committee recently announced the students that will represent the graduating Class of 1995 on Class Day and during Commencement ceremonies.

Diana Sabot '95 will be the class orator. The class orator traditionally gives "a classical or literary speech to the class, reflecting on his or her four years at Dartmouth," Senior Executive Committee President Kaja Schuppert '95 said.

The class historians, who also will speak at Class Day, will be seniors Chris Ferry, Chris Foley, Rodrigo Martinez and Susan Warhover. Schuppert said the historians will work together, "to give a humorous recap of their four years at Dartmouth."

Foley said he is "flattered" he was chosen to be a class historian. "I was dreading graduation, but now I have something to look forward to," he said.

French Professor John Rassias will be this year's faculty speaker, who traditionally gives an inspirational "send-off" speech to the graduating class, Schuppert said.

Schuppert said the committee selected Rassias because he "hadn't spoken in 10 years and is a dynamic professor known well to the students."

The flag bearers, who carry the Dartmouth and U.S. flags at the head of the graduation procession at Commencement, are Aviva Bender '95 and Rebecca Slisz '95.

Lauren Holleran '95, Alie Mann '95, Enrico Riley '95 and Schuppert are the class marshals, who will lead the seniors as they walk down the processional at Commencement.
