Computer stolen from Collis

A thief stole a computer, keyboard and digital scanner worth $1,480 from the Student Organizations Office on the second floor of the Collis Center Tuesday night.

The equipment was stolen "sometime between 11 and 11:30 p.m.," said Tim Moore, director of student activities.

"The Student Organizations Office is available and left open for any student organization on campus to come in for activities," he said.

According to Moore, a student manager immediately discovered the equipment was missing from the room. Student organizations like the Spare Rib and the Student Assembly use the room.

The monitor and printer were not taken, Moore said. The computer, an Apple LC III, is no longer manufactured.

Hanover Police Officer Gerald Macy said the police currently have "nothing to go on." He said fingerprinting was impossible because of the type of surface on the tabletops and the computer equipment.

Macy said the police will place the serial numbers of the equipment on the National Crime Information Computer so those who think a piece of equipment is stolen can find out if it is.

Macy said Hanover Police is working in conjunction with the College.
