Since transitioning into their positions last April, Student Body President Suril Kantaria '13 and Vice president Julia Danford '13 have taken steps toward implementing their campaign promise to increase the Assembly's visibility and involvement in student programming, according to Kantaria. Many students interviewed, however, said they were not aware of the new programming options.

Disgraced former German Minister of Defense Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg canceled his scheduled lecture in Haldemann after a flurry of criticism from students and faculty over the weekend. Guttenberg, who was invited to speak at an event hosted by the International Business Council, cited personal reasons in a written statement to the student group.

Former Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center resident Jeffrey Isaacs '99 has filed a lawsuit against the College and the Board of Trustees for alleged coercion, stress and abuse that left him in a state of mental shock and resulted in wrongful termination. The District Court of New Hampshire at Concord is set to hear the suit this month.

Former Maine Gov. Angus King '66, I-Maine, is running as an Independent candidate for the Senate seat vacated by Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine. King served two terms as governor and is currently the favorite in the race.

Princeton University seniors Jeff Morell and Catherine Ettman will serve as undergraduate representatives on the search committee that will select the university's 20th president, according to The Daily Princetonian. Princeton is one of three Ivy league schools, in addition to Dartmouth and Yale University, that are searching for new presidents. The search committee, which includes nine trustees, four faculty members, one graduate student and one staff member, has 17 members in total. Princeton's undergraduate student government selected Morell and Ettman from the 48 seniors who applied for the position. The search committee is expected to make its decision in March, nearly eight months after President Shirley Tilghman announced her resignation effective June 2013, according to The Dartmouth. The search committee for Dartmouth's next president includes one appointed current student, Student Body President Suril Kantaria '13, who was not selected by an application process.

The endowment currently funds approximately 20 percent of Dartmouth's annual operating budget. Programs supported by the endowment include financial aid, in addition to academic, athletic, research, recreational and cultural programs, according to the press release.

The event highlighted important themes of Wright's recent book, "Those Who Have Borne The Battle: A History of America's Wars and Those Who Fought Them." The symposium opened Friday in Filene Auditorium with a roundtable discussion featuring Wright and Lt. Col. John Nagl, a U.S. Naval Academy Minerva Research Fellow. On Saturday, Dartmouth faculty lectured and presented papers on military history in Carson Hall.
