The Dartmouth men's squash team battled Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. over the weekend but was unable to capture any wins against the No. 1 team in the country, losing 9-0. The Big Green's three-match wining streak was snapped, but the team maintained a positive attitude despite the loss. The sweep marks the seventh for the Bantam men this season.

The men's team opened the season Nov. 19 with a pair of decisive wins on the road over the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis and George Washington University. The next day the team fought to top Franklin & Marshall College, 5-4, in Lancaster, Penn., to earn its third straight win and to maintain an undefeated record.

Maarten van Ess '12 recorded the first shot of the game in the fourth minute of play, but Providence soon received a shooting opportunity when Dartmouth committed a pair of fouls in the 11th minute. Providence sophomore Greg Davis played the ball to junior Marc Cintron, who crossed to senior John Raley on the far-left side. Raley drove a low ball into the bottom-right corner of the net to give the Friars a one-goal lead.

Men's soccer co-captain Lucky Mkosana '12 was named Ivy League Player of the Year on Wednesday, capping an exceptional regular-season performance that may rank as the best in his record-breaking collegiate career. Mkosana was also unanimously selected to the All-Ivy First Team and has now been named to four consecutive All-Ivy First Teams, although this is his first Player of the Year award.

Dartmouth (7-4-3, 3-1-1 Ivy) has played in overtime four times this season, but had not tied a game since its Sept. 11 matchup against the University of South Florida. Although the Big Green scored the game's first goal, Harvard (2-10-2, 0-4-1 Ivy) answered Dartmouth with its own tally just a few minutes later.

Four first-half goals led the Dartmouth men's soccer team to a big win over defending Ivy League champions Princeton University on Saturday night at Burnham Field in the team's League home opener. The 4-1 victory ended Princeton's 12-game League winning streak and marked the Big Green's fourth consecutive conference win dating back to last season.

The Big Green (2-3-2) set out to work on defense and to play better as a unit this week in practice. The extra work showed in the first half, as Dartmouth's defense kept UMass (1-8) off the board and did not let many balls get played past them defenders stepped to the ball aggressively, teammates covered their lines and the team was consistently able to clear the ball out of its half.

Failing to capitalize on its late-game opportunities, the Dartmouth men's soccer team lost consecutive games at the Southern Methodist University Invitational in Dallas, Texas over the weekend. Dartmouth (1-3-2) fell to SMU, 1-2, in the team's third overtime game of the season before losing, 3-2, to the University of Tulsa in the last minute of regulation.
