After a two-year hiatus from the NCAA tournament, the men’s soccer team has high hopes for this season. In 2013, the Big Green finished 6-7-4 overall and 1-6 in Ivy League competition after having one of the best starts in program history — beginning the season 4-0-4. As incoming student-athletes walk across campus to their initial compliance meetings at the College, they may need to set aside more time to acquaint themselves with NCAA regulations than their predecessors did in previous years. With new NCAA policies coming into effect in August — including policies on recruiting, meals, coaching certifications and penalties for street drugs — and turnover in some Big Green coaching staffs, first-year student-athletes will have to think through more than just finding their classrooms and learning “Dartspeak.”

For baseball players at Dartmouth, the summer season matters — though the college baseball season ends in the spring, players often look to get behind the plate and continue playing ball over the summer through one of dozens of collegiate summer leagues across the country.
