With the win over the Big Red (14-11-4, 10-8-4 ECACHL) on Friday and coupled with Cornell's 3-1 loss to Harvard on Saturday, Dartmouth (16-10-3, 12-7-3 ECACHL) split the Ivy crown with Yale with a final league record of 6-3-1. The last time the Big Green won at least of share of the Ivy League title came when head coach Bob Gaudet '81 was playing goalie as an undergraduate.

The Dartmouth men's hockey team stumbled in its return to its ECACHL schedule, the team's first league action since Saturday, Jan. 6. The Big Green blew a two-goal lead late in the third period in a 4-4 tie with No. 10 Clarkson in Potsdam, N.Y., on Friday night, before suffering a 4-1 loss to No. 17 St. Lawrence in Canton, N.Y., on Saturday evening.

College President James Wright has appointed a task force to consider policy changes for scheduling colleges and universities with Native American mascots. The move was in response to a proposal outlined by Athletic Director Josie Harper in her published apology for inviting the University of North Dakota, which uses the Fighting Sioux as its logo, to play in a hockey tournament at Dartmouth.

Under the rallying call "Bringing It Back," the Dartmouth football team entered the season looking to erase memories of last year's 2-8 run and regain some of the pride and success the Big Green enjoyed during the 1990s. However, a rough beginning to the season quelled these aspirations, highlighted by a 56-14 rout at the hands of nationally-ranked University of New Hampshire in the annual Granite Bowl in Hanover.

When asked whether Dartmouth's (5-3-0, 5-1-0 ECACHL) relative woes on offense on Saturday was due to better competition in Colgate or self-inflicted mistakes, assistant captain Nicole Ruta '08 said, "I think it was a bit of a combination of both. We came out flying for the Cornell game looking for a big victory and we were capitalizing on all the opportunities we had. However, in the Colgate game we weren't generating as many scoring chances as we would've liked."

"We started out with one very tough opponent for two games," head coach Mark Hudak said, alluding to the opening contests against No. 3 Mercyhurst. "We didn't go into the weekend taking anything for granted. What we pulled out of that weekend is that we have to get a little bit hungrier, a little bit grittier. If we can do a good job in the defensive zone, we feel like that can pay great dividends on the other side of the ice."

The woes continued for the Dartmouth field hockey team on Friday, as the Big Green gave up four goals off penalty corners in a 5-0 loss to Columbia in New York City. The loss, its fifth straight, drops Dartmouth (3-10, 1-4 Ivy) to the bottom spot in the Ivy League conference standings, while Columbia (6-8, 1-4 Ivy) moves up to the seventh position by virtue of a better overall record.
