Dartmouth’s Organizational Adjudication Committee has suspended Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority for one term, effective immediately, according to a statement released to The Dartmouth today by College spokesperson Diana Lawrence. The suspension will be followed by periods of social and College probation through January 3, 2017.

Following at 10.7 increase in early decision applications in 2014, the College has seen a 2 percent increase over last year’s number of applicants, according to an email sent to alumni interviewers. Last year’s 1,859-person applicant pool was the largest in College history, so this year’s applicant pool passes that record.

Six new residential communities based in current residence halls will begin housing students next fall, the College announced in a press release on Monday. Students graduating later than June 2016 will be randomly assigned into one of the communities in February and will have the chance to request up to five students they would like to be in their house next month. Members of the Class of 2020 will be assigned houses next July when they are given room assignments.

On Monday — the federal holiday Columbus Day — posters advertising apparel featuring the Dartmouth Indian appeared in various residence halls on campus. The Geisel School of Medicine will undergo an overhauldue to budgetary constraints, though the details of the plan have not been finalized pending faculty input, College President Phil Hanlon announced at a town hall meeting in Kellogg Auditorium today. The College saw an 8.3 percent return on its endowment for the 2015 fiscal year, the College announced last night in a press release. The endowment saw 19.2 percent growth for the 2014 fiscal year, 12.1 percent for 2013,5.8 percent in 2012 and 18.4 percentin 2011.
